What to expect during identity verification
The whole process takes about 2 minutes. Here's exactly what happens, step by step.

We've tried to make identity verification as quick and painless as possible. Most people finish in about 2 minutes. Here's what you'll see.
Step 1: You'll get a link
When it's time to verify, we'll show you a button in your dashboard. Click it and a secure verification window opens. You can complete the whole thing on your computer, or we'll send a link to your phone if you'd rather use your mobile camera (which usually takes better photos).
Step 2: You choose your document
You'll pick one government-issued photo ID to use. Options usually include:
Driver's license
State or provincial ID card
Passport
National ID card (outside the U.S.)
If you're in the United States, a driver's license is the fastest option for most people.
Step 3: You take photos of your ID
You'll be asked to capture the front of your ID, and for most documents, the back too. The camera guides you through it — you'll see a frame on the screen and it'll auto-capture when the image is clear.
Step 4: You take a quick selfie
You'll take a short selfie so that Stripe's verification technology can confirm that the ID belongs to you. It's a few seconds of looking at the camera. You don't need to do anything fancy — just make sure you're well-lit and your face is fully visible.
Step 5: That's it
The verification usually completes in a few seconds. Most of the time, you'll see a "Verified" confirmation almost immediately. In a small number of cases, a human reviewer at Stripe takes another look — if that happens, verification usually finishes within a few hours.
What happens after you verify
Your account is marked verified in our dashboard
We submit your identity information to the mobile carrier registry, which is the next step before your AI agent can start sending calls and texts
You don't need to do it again unless your business details change substantially
How long it's good for
Your verification is persistent. You won't be asked to re-verify unless you change your legal business name, change ownership, or add a new business entity to the account.
